Alva M. Miller, 97, of Waverly , NY. Born on March 8, 1928, in Sayre, PA, peacefully passed away on February 8, 2026, at Elderwood in Waverly. Alva made significant contributions throughout her life, including a dedicated career as a Histo Lab Technician at the Food and Drug Labs in Waverly, NY, where she served for many years, showcasing her commitment to the well-being of the community.
She was united in marriage to George L. Miller on December 14, 1946, in Sayre, PA. This union was marked by a lighthearted anecdote, as Alva almost caused George to be absent without leave due to the timing of their wedding and his return to his ship. Together, they built a life filled with love and family. Alva was the youngest of seven children and cherished the relationships she fostered with her siblings and extended family.Alva is survived by her loving daughters, Louise (Dale) Bowers of Greenwood, SC, Suzanne Wood of Waverly, NY, and Georgia Ayers of Waverly, NY. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and Michael (Michelle) Bowers and Kristina (Scott) Cipollina, Barbara (Steven) Barnes, Cyrstal (James) Seely, David (Patricia) Wood, Leigh Anne Ayers, Stacy Ayers, Ryan Haggerty. along with great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren: Joshua (Rachel) Bowers and Zachary (Kacy Sciochetti), Evan , Mason, Scarlet, and Twins: Riley and Olivia Cipollina. Mariska Bowers, Kay Barnes, Twins: Mryron & Rowan Shear, Darby Barnes, Marcus Wood, Dominick Wood, Cameron Wood, Chrisopher, Krapf, Zachary Wood, Katherine Keenan Wood, Jacob And Emily. Twins: Noah James and Saylor Rae, Maeve Louise. Throughout her life, Alva maintained close ties with many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will fondly remember her spirit and warmth.Alva was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church in Waverly, NY, a role that brought her much pride and fulfillment within the community.She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George L. Miller, in 2013, her son Thomas in 1990, and her parents Howard and Jennie Wolcott. Along with the the loss of her siblings: Evelyn Desisti, Gersley Wolcott, William Wolcott, Lorraine Towner, Pauline Wood, and Richard Wolcott.A time of remembrance for Alva will be held at a future date, allowing family and friends to gather and honor her memory, reflecting on the lasting impact she made on the lives of those around her.
