Obituary

Angelique "Sally" Allen, 94, of French Asylum passed away on October 27, 2013 at the Towanda Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
"Sally" was born in French Asylum on March 1, 1919, the daughter of Charles A. Frutchey and Sadie Ackley Frutchey.
Sally graduated from the Towanda High School, Class of 1936. Following graduation she was employed by the Towanda Credit Bureau for 5 years. In 1942 she began her 37 year career with the Northern Pennsylvania Power Company/Pennsylvania Electric Company. At the time of her retirement, she held the position of Supervisor of Division Business Offices. In the early seventies she was honored by the community by being named "Secretary of the Year".
Sally enjoyed traveling, going to auction sales, collecting antiques and gardening. She always took great pride in the valley in which she lived. She will be remembered for her love of her family, her keen sense of humor and her love of animals, especially Airedale dogs.
Sally was trustee of the French Asylum United Methodist Church, a member of the Bradford County Historical Society, a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for which she volunteered many years in their Rainbow Thrift Shop and a member of the Penelec Retirees' Club. In her younger days she was very active in the Wysox Fire Company Auxiliary.
Sally is survived by two nieces, Shirley Van Horn Homan of Athens, and Peggy Van Horn Thomas of Towanda, a nephew Charles "Bud" Van Horn of Canton, a nephew in-law, Warren "Mac" Davenport of Wysox, great nieces and nephews, Donald Homan, Patrick Homan, Karen Homan Whyte, Gerald Homan, Michael Van Horn, Amy Van Horn Zimmer, Mark Van Horn, Randy Davenport, Kay Davenport Calaman and Tammy Jo Thomas. Sally had 20 great great nieces and nephews and 6 great great great nieces and nephews.
Sally was also survived by two step-daughters, Suzanne Kulick and her husband Edward Kulick of Wysox, PA and Ulilla Costello and her husband John Costello of S. Duxbury, Vermont, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many great nieces and nephews. Sally is also survived by her many good friends and neighbors who she was thankful for having them in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Francis "Sam" Allen, a sister Sadie Albertha Driesbaugh, a niece Margaret Yvonne Davenport, 2 great nephews, Daniel Homan and James Thomas and two in-laws, George Robert Homan and Barbara Van Horn.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1:00PM at the French Asylum United Methodist Church, French Asylum Rd, Towanda, PA., with Rev. Jean Montgomery officiating. Donations can be made to the French Asylum United Methodist Church, c/o Jack Kilmer 7048 Liberty Corners Rd. Towanda PA. 18848. the Bradford County Humane Society, P.O.
