Arlene Rachel Utter
Surrounded by her loving family, Arlene Rachel Utter, 68, of RR2, Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008.

She was born on March 9, 1939, in Elm Grove, W.Va., a daughter of Gilda and the late Roy Secrist.

Arlene was a graduate of Athens High School Class of 1957, where she was fifth in her class.

Arlene was a dedicated employee at Fairway Springs in Horseheads and retired following 41 years of service.

On Dec. 1, 1961, in Athens, Pa., she married her best friend, Charles Utter. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who treasured the time spent with her family.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles; her mother, Gilda Secrist Weber of Athens; daughters, Bernice Blauvelt Henry of Chemung, N.Y., Charlene and her husband, Willis Edger, of Columbia Cross Roads; her sister, Lillian, and her husband, Wayne Schoppe of Lady Lake, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Secrist of Wilawana and Velma Utter of Big Flats, N.Y.; grandchildren, Ryan Henry of Athens; Sheri (Francis) Green of Athens, Kelly Henry and Rebecca Marcoccia, both of Chemung, and Willy Edger of Columbia Cross Roads; and four great-grandchildren. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive.

Arlene was predeceased by her father, Roy Secrist; stepfather, Albert Weber; and a brother, Dale Secrist.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Arlene's life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the East Smithfield Federated Church with Pastor Stanley Gill and Pastor David Titus officiating. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
