Arlene Margaret Yeager, 96, of Sayre, Pennsylvania passed away on February 12, 2016 at the Sayre Health Care Facility. Arlene was born on December 15, 1919 in Binghamton, New York a daughter of the late Lewis and Laura Bird. On January 2, 1943, she married the love of her life Richard H. Yeager in Washington State and worked for IBM during WWII. She was also a secretary for Whipple's Lumber Yard in Laceyville, Pennsylvania and operated Pottery Exhibit on Lime Hill in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania until it closed in 1969. She then moved to Wysox in 1969 working for Dr. John McDonald Chiropractic ~ following her retirement she moved to Athens to be closer to her children. She was a 50 year member of the Wyalusing Legion Auxiliary. A loving wife and mother, Arlene treasured her family and made friends wherever she went. The staff loved her at the Sayre Health Care Facility, and Arlene always knew right where the fire alarms were!
Arlene was predeceased by her husband Richard Yeager in June of 2005.
Arlene is survived by her children: David (Linda) Yeager of Sayre and Patricia (Ralph) Beers of Athens. Grandchildren: Scott Yeager, Brenda (David) Cowger, Rick (Trish) Beers. Great grandchildren: Kris Cowger, Lauren Beers, Brandon Beers, Sam Beers, Noah Beers, Rachel Beers, Nick Beers and Andrew Beers.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at the Athens United Methodist Church, 118 S. Main St, Athens, Pennsylvania on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 12PM with Rev. Andrew Weidner, officiating. A period of visitation will be held from 11AM until the time of the service. A time of sharing and a luncheon will follow the service in the church hall. Arlene will be laid to rest, next to her husband Richard in the Wyalusing Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice in loving memory of Arlene.
