Betty Jane Neiley , 92

Betty Jane (Lattimer) Neiley of Homets Ferry, PA passed away at Sayre Memory Care Center in Sayre, PA on Saturday, February 17, 2024 following declining health.

Betty was born at home in Luzerne, PA on November 22, 1931.  She was the daughter of the late Harold C. Lattimer and Katherine (Robbins) Lattimer.

In her early years, Betty attended Camptown Elementary School and in 1950 graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School.  During her high school years, she was a member of the basketball team and a member of the school newspaper "The Rocks."  She graduated 7th in her class of 37.

She married Richard "Dick" M. Neiley on July 26, 1952.  They celebrated 68 years of marriage before Dick's death on November 7, 2020.  Following their marriage, Betty was a stay at home mom.  In 1968, she began her career with the Wyalusing Valley School District, lasting almost 30 years.  Betty was a member of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church.  She was a tax collector for Wyalusing Township for many years and a notary of Bradford County.

Betty is survived by her children, Gary L. (Linda) Neiley of Homets Ferry, PA and Cindy L. (Vernon) Cole of Sayre, PA, brothers Harold (Mary) Lattimer of Herndon, VA and RIchard P (Irene) Lattimer of Douglasville, PA, sister-in-law Virginia Neiley of Wysox, PA, grandchildren Robert T. (Julie) Neiley of Maple Valley, WA, Richard J. (Rebecca) Neiley of Wyalusing, PA, Susan R (Joshua) Kilmer of Wyalusing, PA, Jennifer L (Tracy) Sutton of Sayre, PA, Kelly M. (Nathan) White of Wyalusing, PA, Kara L. Cole of Sayre, PA, and Aaron N. (Deana) Cole of Sayre, PA, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren plus another great-great grandchild due in May and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Dick on November 7, 2020, her sister Etta (Lattimer) Covey , brother-in-law Howard Covey, sister-in-law Norma Lattimer and niece Judy (Covey) Seto.
