With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Mae Orshaw, 94, of Athens, who died peacefully at her home on February 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in South Hill, Orwell Township, PA on May 21, 1930, to George and Ella Ayers.
Betty was a loving mother and skilled beautician who worked for years in her own hair salon. She was a compassionate woman, generous with her time, her love, and her spirit, always putting others before herself. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." This quote perfectly encapsulates the essence of Betty, a woman whose kindness and warmth will forever be remembered.
Betty is survived by her daughter, LaVonne Kunkel, son-in-law, John, son, Mark Orshaw, daughter-in-law, Pam, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Orshaw, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. She was preceeded in death by her loving husband of 76 years LaVerne (Vern) Orshaw on September 15, 2024 and son Dan Orshaw December 17, 2023.
