Obituary

Carl DeWitt ,79, of Athens died Saturday, April 3rd, 2010, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre after a brief illness. He was born June 7th, 1930, and was a graduate of Athens High School, where he was known for his skills with things electrical and mechanical. Carl was preceded by his parents, Edward and Bessie DeWitt, and brothers Dick, Walt, and Bob, and sister, Thola. He is survived by his brothers John and Lloyd, and sister, Doris. He had served a short time in the Air Force.
Carl had four sons: Gene of Athens; James (and wife, Trudy) of Charleston, SC; Guy (and wife Judy) of Athens; and Scott (and wife, Jan) of Bridgeport, WV. He was loved by his grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Brandy, Jessica and Nichole. As well as several niece's and nephew's and very special friends.
Carl was a retired Tool Maker formerly employed by Ingersoll-Rand in Athens. He had a love of aviation and had held a Private Pilot certificate. Carl was a regular with the morning coffee crew at Reese's Restaurant and will be greatly missed by his friends.
According to his wishes there will be no service with burial to take place at the convenience of the family in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens. Friends who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to the organization of their choice.
