Obituary

Charles R. Eddy,  72

Newark Valley, NY:  Charles R. Eddy, age 72, died September 9, 2022.   He was born to Roger and Eileen (Massey) Eddy who predeceased him.

After being diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in 2017, doctors gave him 6 months to live, but he wasn't going to be early or even on-time.  He lived another 5 years and spent much of that time doing the things he enjoyed.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Penny.  His siblings:  Colleen, Roger and Sue.  His brother-in-laws:  Steven, Richard and Jim Houghtling as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends who have given him great comfort and joy these past few years during his declining health.    We are grateful to all who assisted in enabling him to stay at home, where he loved to be.   We are very grateful to the Oncology staff at Robert Packer Hospital/Guthrie in Sayre, PA as well as Lourdes Hospice.   A big thank you is owed to his Drs-- Catherine Morelli and Patty Fogelman that helped him fulfill his wish to be at home in his final days.

Chuck was an Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam.  He was a member of the Owego American Legion and a lifetime member of the Owego VFW.

Chuck retired from IBM/Lockheed Owego at age 55 and spent the next years out on his land, tractors and woods as much as he could.  He loved living in the country and being outdoors.  He was always accompanied by one of his dogs.

In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.  If you wish to make a donation in remembrance of Chuck please consider:  Mercy House, 212 N. McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760

A Fallen Limb

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says,

"Grieve not for me.

Remember the best times,

The laughter, the song.

The good life I lived

while I was strong."
