Obituary

Charles E. Utter, 85, of Columbia Cross Roads, Smithfield Twp. Pa was called home by his Lord & Savior to be reunited with his loving wife, on Monday, December 5, 2011. Charles was born at home in Athens on March 1, 1926 a son of the late Elmer and Nellie (Carmon) Utter. He graduated from Athens High School and served in the US Army.
On December 1, 1961 Charles married his best friend Arlene Rachel Secrist. Arlene preceded Charles in death on January 8, 2008.
Charles was an entrepreneur at heart and owned many service stations and other business throughout the area. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who treasured the time spent with his family. Charles loved being around people and loved to just sit and visit offering a smile to whoever crossed his path.
Charles was preceded in death by brother, Lester Utter and sisters, Arlene Campbell and Gladys Campbell.
Charlie is survived by daughters: Bernice Blauvelt Henry of Chemung; Charlene and her husband Willis Edger of Columbia Cross Roads. Grandchildren: Ryan Henry of Athens; Sheri (Francis) Green of Athens; Kelly Henry of Yorkville NY; Rebecca Marcoccia of Chemung, NY. and Willis Edger of Columbia Cross Roads, PA. Great Grandchildren: Aidan Johnson, Kyndra Green, Dalton Henry and Dustyn Henry. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Charles's life on Saturday December 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the E. Smithfield Federated Church with Pastor Stanley Gill and Pastor David Titus officiating. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held at the church from 1 pm until the time of the service.
