72, of Sayre, PA. died in Christ on June 17, 2010 at home with her family by her side after a brief and a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 21, 1938 in Towanda, PA, a daughter of Earl and Beatrice (Bride) Shadduck. On Oct. 5, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church, Athens. Dena married Harry King and together they raised seven children. Dena loved to travel especially to St. Petersburg, FL. Dena was a dedicated mother and grandmother never missing a game or event, volunteering at many events in support of her children.
Dena is preceded in death by her father Earl Shadduck, brother John Shadduck and sister-in-law Marlene Shadduck.
Dena is survived by her Husband Harry King at home, Mother Beatrice Shadduck of Athens. Daughters and Sons-in-law: Teresa (Craig) Tober of Longmeadow, MA., Colleen (William) Zurn of Sayre and Kathleen (Christopher) Deitman of Elbridge, NY. Sons and Daughters-in-law: Richard (MaryLu) King of Sayre, Timothy King of Sand Springs, OK., John (Tina) King of Allegany, NY, and James King of Sayre. Brothers: Mike Shadduck and Joe Shadduck. Sisters: Mary Teresa St Claire, Dona Solomon, Elizabeth Nadler and Cousin Becky Bride. Nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, brother-in-law Roy (Beverly) King, former daughter-in-law Teresa Yeomans of Keller, TX., former son-in-law Donald Homan of Athens and many other special friends relatives and neighbors.
A memorial mass will be held for Dena on Monday, June 21st at 9:00AM at Epiphany Roman Catholic Church with celebrant Fr. Langan. At her request there will be no calling hours. The burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
