Ellen Johnson, 60, of Sayre, PA, was called home to God on November 15th, 2025 surrounded by her family at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Ellen was known for the way she showed up for the people she loved. She enjoyed quiet days by the river, going fishing, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her little chihuahuas who were always by her side. Over the years she worked at Sayre School as a janitor, at Nocchi's Restaurant, and later managed a KFC during her time in Florida. No matter where life took her, she always kept her family close.

She is survived by her children, Howard Johnson (Andrea) of Palm Bay, Florida, and Kasandra Johnson (Chris Faehr) of Sayre, PA. She was "Mama" to her grandchildren—Jaden, Toni, Ellieona, Brayleigh and Harper—and she adored her great-grandchildren Holden, Maddox, Jaxon, Aidyn, and Maleia. Being with them was her greatest joy, and they filled her home with the kind of love she treasured.

Ellen is also survived by her siblings: OJ Johnson (Mary) of Wysox, PA; Pearl Johnson of Towanda, PA; Molly Wright of Towanda, PA; Rose Johnson of Towanda, PA; William (Margaret) Johnson of Camptown, PA; and Sunny (Diane) Vincent of Towanda, PA. She had many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all special to her. She also shared close friendships with Ardell, Kristie, and Lucinda, who remained by her side throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte Ackley and Donald Hadlock; her nephew, Briar Wright; her brother-in-law, Brian Wright; father of her children, Howard Johnson; and love of her life, Freeman (Bill)  Smith.

Ellen leaves behind a family who loved her deeply, and her memory will continue to live on in every story shared, every laugh remembered, and every moment they carry forward. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday December 5, 2025 from 2-4PM at the Grater Valley Assembly of God 104 S Main St Athen PA
