Eugenia (Jean) Smith of Sayre passed away on July 1, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. She was the eldest of seven daughters of Andrew and Eva Banick.

Jean attended Sayre High School and nursing school in NY. She was a member of Epiphany Roman Catholic Church. Jean and her husband, Walter Smith, consecutively operated the Flat Iron Hotel, The Sayre Motel and a retail business in Elmira. She had been active in many business, volunteer and church organizations.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Walter Smith. Sisters: Helena Cochi, Vera Corby, Paulyne Munn, and Mildred "Mimi" Rhodes. She was also predeceased by a great granddaughter.

Jean is survived by her daughters: Carol (Jim) Ramsey and Lesley (David) Lantz. Sisters: Patricia Harkness and Rita Barrett. 2 Grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews.
