Frances G. (Gerry) Mumme of Lockwood, NY passed away peacefully on April 16th at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Gerry was born July 9, 1929 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Earl and Helen (Tiffany) Webster. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold C. Mumme in 1987, her parents, and sister, Joyce Pickett of Florida.
Gerry was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved spending time with her family, including numerous travels to Florida and Alabama to visit with her sisters.
Prior to retirement, Gerry worked for a number of years at the Grand Union and Ted Clark's Busy Market in Waverly, NY. For years after retiring, Gerry enjoyed working the annual fall harvest sale at Ted Clark's. In addition, she was a 35 year member of the Lockwood Volunteer Fire Department.
Gerry was a great fan of country music, having made trips to Branson and Nashville. You could find her at the local "Music in the Park" all summer and at Round and Square dances throughout the winter. She enjoyed the music and loved to dance. You knew not to call her house between 7 and 8PM – she never missed Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!
Gerry will be greatly missed by her children: James & Terri Mumme of Lockwood, NY; Patti & Bill Kerry of Ithaca, NY; Vicki & Skip Rosa of Newfield, NY. Four grandchildren: Lyndsey (Tyler Stangle) Mumme of Waverly, NY; Brian (Malorie) Kerry of Groton, NY; Bill (Emily) Kerry of Dryden, NY; Max (Courtney) Kerry of Rockford, MI. Five great-grandchildren: Justice, Gauge, Ryan, Elise and Trevor. Sisters: Arlene (Cort) Weaver and JoAnn (Lamar) Perry, both of Florida. Many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care provided by Pam Chandler and Melanie Hazen. Gerry loved them both and the family appreciates all that they have done to make the last year as happy for Gerry as possible.
Family and Friends are invited to join us in A Celebration of Life for Gerry on Saturday May 2nd at 1:00 PM at the Lockwood Fire House in Lockwood, NY.
