Irene G. Doane, 88, of Drybrook Road, Waverly, NY died on Monday, October 31, 2011 at her home. Irene was born on January 24, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl (Simcoe) Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William A. Doane, in May of this year.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Vicki and James Kier of Waverly, NY. Grandchildren: Carrie (John) Barth of Aberdeen, MD, Chris Velardo of Boulder, CO. Great-grandchildren: Cassie and Logan Barth of Aberdeen, MD. Brother and sister-in-law: Arthur and Madge Grace of Chemung, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her wonderful care-givers: Pam, Betty, Laura, Tanya and Shelly.
Irene worked for many years at both Croft Lumber Company and the Sayre Motel, as head bookkeeper.
A private memorial service will take place at the Chemung Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
