James Gary Martz , 67, of Keystone Ave., Sayre Pa passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Robert Packer Hospital. He was bon on Sept. 17, 1940 in Sayre, Pa. a son of the late Lewis and Pearl (Mastellar) Martz. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, & Friend. James also loved nature and was a devoted Christian. He is survived by his children: Michael (Geraldine) Martz of Corning, NY; Gary Martz of Chemung, NY; Kathy (Jerry) LaValley of Brushton, NY. Step-children Charles (Mary) Payne of Elmira, NY; Richard Payne of Sayre, Pa, Connie (Alex) Alteri of Kingston, Pa; Leah (Gary) Robinson of Sayre, Pa; sisters Ruby Jenney, Athens, Jean Bill, Johnson City, NY. and brother Robert Martz, VanEtten, NY. Eight grandchildren, nine step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his wife Julia Jane Martz; two brothers, Lewis Martz Jr. and LaRue Martz.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation Tuesday May 13th from 12:00 – 2: 00 PM at the Cooley-Tioga Point Cremation & Burial Options, Inc., 802 N. Main St., Athens, Pa. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Bruce Vanderpool, officiating. The family will provide flowers and request memorial be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Following the services there will a period of fellowship following the service at 511 N. Keystone Ave Sayre, PA. Burial will take place in Tioga Point Cemetery at a later date.
