passed away at home on January 16th 2010. Joan was born on September 3, 1932 in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of the late Cecil and Louise (Kelm) Swearengin. On March 4, 1955 she married the love of her life, Raymond Whipple, in Binghamton, NY. Joan was dedicated to the care of others as a Registered Nurse. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Joan was an avid jazz and big band music collector with thousands of vinyl records in her collection. Joan also liked to exercise both her body and mind by walking and doing crossword puzzles.

Joan is survived by her husband Raymond Whipple at home. Daughters and sons-in-law: Raye and Jim Connolley of Mechanicsville, VA, Linda and Michael Crum of Mansfield PA. Son and daughter-in-law: David A. and Sheena Whipple of Sayre. Grandchildren: Lauren (Chris) Dunnavant, Megan Connolley, Jessica Crum, David Whipple and Lindsay Whipple. A sister, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive. Joan was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law.

At Joan's request there will be a private graveside memorial service at the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther Mills, PA.
