When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set on me, remember the love that we shared, and that will comfort thee… On Thursday, October 28, 2010 surrounded by her loving family, Joann L. Moore, 62 of Athens Township, passed away. Joann was born on July 31, 1948 in Sayre, a daughter of Sarah (Rogers) White and the late Joseph White. She was a graduate of Athens Area High School and The Mansfield State College in 1970. Joann was employed by the Athens Area School District for 31 years, where she opened her heart teaching first grade and kids with special needs. Even after retirement she would greet all the kids in the morning as they arrived at school. She enjoyed spending time gardening, being surrounded by family, wintering in Florida, and always took the time to say 'thank you' to those who proudly serve our country. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her community.
In addition to her mother Sarah Rogers White, Joann is survived by her husband Avery C. Moore; her daughters and their husbands: Candace (Moore) and Mark Parks; Michelle (Belles) and Jake Lantz; Danelle (Belles) and Neil Wheaton; Karina (Moore) and Michael Guajardo; her special grandchildren: Zachary Lantz, Jordan Parks, Alycia Parks, Hannah Parshall, Joseph Parshall, Aidan Leyland; brothers and sister-in-law: Ric and Penny White, Stan White; sister Barbara (Bip) White; niece and nephews: Jacob White, Ashley White, Cody White, Brett White; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Joann was predeceased by her father Joseph and a brother Joseph "Skeeter" White.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation and a time of sharing memories on Monday, November 1st from 2:30-5:30 pm at the Waverly United Methodist Church. Memorial services and a celebration of her life will follow with Rev. Ann Canfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, at the family's request, per Joann's wishes, memorial contributions may be directed to the Lynch-Bustin Elementary School, in Joann's name, 253 Pennsylvania Ave, Athens PA 18810.
