IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John L.
Evans Jr.
February 4, 1959 – September 1, 2018
He Only Takes The Best
God saw he was getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around him,
And whispered "Come with me",
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away,
Although we love him dearly,
We could not make him stay,
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best,
Although his heart stopped beating,
His love will always remain,
His absence puts upon our hearts,
A very heavy strain,
For now he is in a place of everlasting rest,
We just have to understand that God,
He only takes the best.
On the evening of Saturday September 1st 2018 with heavy hearts, wonderful memories, but great relief that there's no more pain we said goodbye to our Loving Husband, Dad, Poppy, and brother John Larry Evans Jr. 59 of Orwell Township who passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side after a short losing battle with stage 4 Pancreas/Liver Cancer.
John was born on Wednesday February 4th 1959 in Sayre PA the oldest of seven children to the late John and Ruth Raymond Evans of Orwell Township.
Family was the biggest part of John's life he leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate Cindy Evans "Ma/Mommy", his three wonderful children Jessica Lynn "Jessa" and Justin "Justy" McCarthy of Orwell Township, John Larry Evans III "Johnny" and Taylor Cobb of Rome and Mackenzey Ruth "Kenzey" Evans at home, all three will cherish the things he taught them but also go on missing out on many things that he didn't get a chance to teach them. Also left behind are Poppy's three Angels whom he thought the world of, his grandbabies Harper Noel McCarthy, Olivia Rae Evans "Tootie", and Mason John Evans. It is our job to keep Poppy's memory alive and remind them each and every day what a great wonderful man he was and never let them forget him. Saying goodbye to their big brother are Yvonne "Sissy" and Rick Bashore of Sayre, Polly Evans and Neil Walker of Towanda, Linda and Ron Hunsinger of Silvara, Chad and Theresa Evans of Orwell Township, and Kelly and Shawn Mapes of Mehoopany. His mother in law Helen "Ma" Bump of Wysox, His good friend Frank Mosier of North Rome and a very special Nephew and friend Chad "Little Chad" Evans and Ashley of Rome, brothers in law Irvin Bump Jr. "Junior" of Wysox, Loyd Bump of Towanda, Sisters in law Christina and David Coates of Wyalusing, Misdy and Norman Johnson of Colsax LA, numerous nieces and nephews, Aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Waiting to greet John with open arms are his parents John and Ruth Evans, Sister and Brother in law Margaret "Peggy" and Dave Bashore, father in law Irvin Bump Sr. Brother in law Wayne Coates, Nephews Brandon Crawford, John Brown, Zachary Brown and Niece Stephanie Evans.
John was a man of kindness and giving, in any time of need all anyone need to do was ask and he would be there to give a lending hand with whatever needed to be done even if it meant putting things on hold at his own house until later, that would make "ma" mad but that's the kind of man he was. He never had a mean thing to say about anyone, If he had a problem with someone or didn't like them it never showed he still treated everyone like a friend.
Spotty also lived life each and every day to the fullest. He liked to enjoy himself with friends and family, was always making wisecracks and giving everyone a laugh around him. His enjoyments included cooking and grilling for family and friends, EATING(any kind of pasta or pizza nice and saucy) four wheeling, woodworking, carpentry work including building his own house at one point and his life and helping family members build their houses,"baking" listening to music (rock and roll and classic country) working at his "workbench", making sure his lawn was cut with straight lines, fishing including trips to Canada in his younger days, watching the news, boxing, UFC, Sci-fi, detective shows, Ancient Aliens, or anything where he could learn something new.
At the time of his passing although unable to work the last few months due to his illness he was still employed as a team leader at Jeld-wen in Wysox a position he held for a majority of the 42 years he spent there. he made friends with many of the people he supervised over the years.
In keeping with John's spirit of giving and entertaining, his family asks that in his memory you invite friends and family in to your home eat, drink, embrace each other, tell jokes and LAUGH!!! There will be a Celebration of life dinner for Spotty on Sunday September 16th from 1 to 4 at the North Orwell Community Hall, BYOB and a bit extra to share with friends in Spottys spirit of giving. Come and celebrate his life, eat, drink, share laughs just like he would have wanted. Instead of bringing food to the house please bring it to the dinner to be enjoyed by all.
