Obituary

61, of New Albany, PA. Died in Christ on August 2, 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital, after a long illness, with his wife by his side. He was born on May 13, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of John M. and Bernice (Gutowski) McCormick. John attended Churchill Area High School and later received a Bachelors of Science form the University of Pittsburgh. John married the love of his life Grace Olson on October 2nd 1971 in Pittsburg, PA. John loved to work with his hands, flying private aircraft, hunting and working on cars. He also enjoyed the company of his cats and dogs. John was a Eucharistic Minister and Lecture for The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and member of the Knights of Columbus Council St. John Newman #12406 and a Grand Knight of Tabernacle Council #8733.
John was preceded in death by his father John M. McCormick
John is survived by his Wife Grace McCormick at home. Mother: Bernice McCormick of Eighty Four, PA., sister: Rosemary (Nick) Hanzivasilis of Eighty Four, PA., brothers: James (Diana) McCormick of Valley View, OH., Thomas (Laura) McCormick of Orange Village, OH., sister-in-law: Debbie Olson of Pittsburgh, PA., aunt: Thelma McCormick his God Mother and 3 Nieces, 3 Nephews, 1 Great Niece, 1 great nephew, several cousins and special friends.
A memorial mass will be held for John on Monday, August 9th at 2:00PM at St. Basil the Great Church, Dushore, PA with celebrant Fr. Joseph R. Hornick. There will be a period of visitation one hour prior to the service. At his request there will be no calling hours. The burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
