of Sheshequin, died Tuesday May 17, 2011.
She was born to the late Fred and Cora Ward, Dec. 2, 1930, in Athens, PA. Joyce graduated from Sayre Area High School in 1948. She married the late Jimmy Allen in 1949, and they lived together on Orangehill, Ridge Road, Athens/Sheshequin, Pa.
Joyce worked many jobs in her life while caring for her 7 children the last of which she was a Unit Clerk at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Joyce was an avid golfer, bird watcher and loved putting puzzles together.
Predeceased by 3 brothers - Carlton, Robert, and Ralph Ward, a son Harold, a grandchild Christopher Allen.
Joyce is survived by six children: Bill and Cheryl Allen (Camptown, PA), Diane and Jack Harkins (Sayre, PA), Dawn and Tim Reynolds (Lockwood, NY), Tom and Bonnie Allen (Milan, PA), Donna and David Yale (East Smithfield, PA), and Debbie Smith and Isiaah Thomas (Candor, NY). She also is survived by 16 grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren, as well as many many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.
Joyce is also survived by 3 sisters – Onalee Jackson, Gretchen and Gordon Millard, and Sylvia and Burton Grippen. As well as, 4 Sister-in-laws – Neva Fiske, Laura Allen, Yvonne Ward, and Jackie Ward Washburn.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Area Agency on Aging, Towanda, PA 18848, or Mather Memorial Library, Ulster, PA 18850.
A Memorial Luncheon Service will be held on Saturday May 21st 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Smithfield Firehall. Burial will be held at convenience of the family at Orange Hill Cemetery.
