Kathryn Hilliar, of Waverly, NY, embraced the arms of our Lord on Tuesday July 19, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Kathryn was born in New York City on January 3, 1932. The daughter of the late Dorothy (Mazza) Laspina and Michael Partenak.
She was pre-deceased by her sister Mary Partenak of New York City, Brother-in-law Lawrence Rupp of Ephrata, PA., son-in-law Robert Henderson Jr. of Bartow Fl., and mother-in-law Florence Hilliar of Wyalusing, PA. Cathy was employed at the old I.R. foundry in Sayre, PA. and National Cash Register in Ithaca, NY., before becoming a full time homemaker. She was very devoted to her family and a kind and giving person - to know her was to love her. Cathy enjoyed camping, shopping, cooking, Bingo, yard sales, playing cards, traveling and visiting her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Cleon R. Hilliar of Waverly, NY.; Daughters: MSG(Ret) Gloria M. Henderson of Syracuse, NY., Melody R. Hilliar of South Waverly, PA, Venus J. (Curt) Nowakowski of Hesperia, CA., and Son: Todd R. Hilliar of Waverly, NY. Granddaughters: Alana J. (Matt) Hilliar of Waverly, Jennifer L. (Jalil) Granger of Binghamton, NY., and Jade B. Nowakowski of Bothell, WA. and Grandson: Troy A Henderson of Austin, TX. Great grandchildren: Jalilah, Jabril, Jameela and Jazeera. Sisters: Millie Gentile of New Jersey and Margaret Bodowsky of Elmira, NY. Brother: Salvador LaSpina of Elmira, NY.; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Dorothy Hilliar of Bershire, NY, James Hilliar of Spencer, NY., Joan Larson of King Ferry, NY., Flossie (Harold) Kissinger of Ephrata, PA., and former son-in-law Daniel Nowakowski of Bothell, WA. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially Alberta Wolcott, Helen Rudd and Dawn Parks.
Relatives and friends are invited to call the family. A memorial gathering and celebration of Cathy's life will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 4PM beginning with a spiritual blessing by Deacon Joe Federowicz and testimonials, followed by a period of fellowship with a meal at the J.E. Wheelock Hose Company Hall, 217 North Street, Milltown PA..
