Lisa Carol Merritt passed away unexpectedly at home in Wyalusing on Oct. 31, 2024, born on September 3,1961 in Waverly, NY. Lisa, a dedicated woman with an infectious spirit, resided in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, where her laughter and love will be remembered by many. As Albert Schweitzer once said, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." Lisa lived these words, dedicating her life to her family and work.
Lisa was known for her warm heart, and her dedication was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a familiar, comforting presence to many Wyalusing residents. She was a pillar of strength and resilience, having faced the adversities of life with a smile that never faded. Lisa's passion for life was not confined to her work; she had a deep love for watching her birds, especially hummingbirds. Their vibrant colors and ceaseless energy mirrored her own spirit, making her backyard her favorite sanctuary.
Lisa is survived by her daughters, Erin and Jay Watkins, Tonya Merritt, her son, Joshua and Susin Merritt. Her sister, Robin Whiteley, also survives her along with 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Lisa was widowed by her loving spouse, Thomas Merritt, and was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy South and Elizabeth and James Croke, her brother Lee South, and her cherished son, George Farr. Lisa's life was a testament to the fact that family mattered most to her. Her dedication to her family was unwavering and her love for them, infinite.
