Lloyd C. Rifenberg, 97, a life long resident of Sayre, pa passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at his home.
Lloyd was born on May 2, 1911 Sayre, Pa a son of the late George and Elsie Rifenberg of Sayre.
On December 2, 1938 Lloyd married Ilene Kenny of New Albany, Pa. Among Lloyd's many accomplishments he was a member of the J.E. Wheelock Hose Company for 10 years living in the dormitory for 5 years. He works for the Lehigh Valley Railroad as a conductor and was on the last run of the famous "Black Diamond" passenger train. Lloyd was President of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, attending conferences in Miami several times.
He served on the Sayre Boro Council for four years, was co-founder of the Black Diamond Club. Lloyd was an active member of the Sayre Christian Church. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Ilene Rifenberg, sons Dan and David of Atlanta. Lloyd has six grandchildren, seven grandchildren. His son James passed away in 2005, he is also predeceased by his sisters Francis Passmore and Thelma Carl.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008 at the Sayre Christian Church with Rev. James Donahoo, officiating. A light luncheon will be served.
