Obituary

Louise C. O'Hare, 94 of Big Pond, P.A. passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024. She was the daughter of Oliver S. Comfort and Bessie D. Sawdey. She had previously been a resident of Elmira, N.Y. and Syracuse, N.Y. Louise graduated from Southside High School in 1948. She was a member of the Merry B's Sewing Club,  Big Pond United Methodist Church and the Big Pond Lions Club.

In her younger years Louise was an avid bowler. While bowling on the "Pal's" team at Dixie Lanes in 1963, Louise and 3 others had a 507 series and the 5th bowler had a 503. She always loved tending to her garden no matter where she lived. There wasn't any craft she could not tackle. She loved to make things with her traveling friends out of pins, beads, hangers, soda cans or anything else they could think up. She was excellent at sewing, cross stitch, crocheting, quilting, ceramics and painting. Over the years she won many ribbons from the Troy Fair for her amazing talents. In more recent years she found a love for jigsaw puzzles. There was always a puzzle on the table for her and daughter Pam to work on with the help of her cats, Charlie and Molly who loved to lay on the pieces.

Louise and her family moved to Syracuse in 1965. She had a long career at Travelers Insurance in the payroll department. After retiring in 1986, Louise and her honey Burt started traveling the country in their motorhome. They were able to see many parts of the country traveling until 2001 when they became permanent residents of Big Pond and East Smithfield.

Louise was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Burton O'Hare, her brother Lawrence Comfort and her "favorite" grandson Mike Clark. She is survived by her sister Shirley (Robert) Greenough Jr of Big Pond, P.A., her sister-in-law Mary Francis Comfort of Liverpool, N.Y., her son Keith (Linda) Warters of Elmira, N.Y., daughters Pamela (Robert) Haven of Big Pond, P.A., Joan Kuryla of Cicero, N.Y., Sheri Candee of Boonville, N.Y. and Susan Clark of Syracuse, N.Y. Louise is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 3 (almost 4) Great Great Grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless other family members and friends.

We will be celebrating Louise's very full life on Sunday September 1st, 2024 at her summer residence 265 Lake Shore Lane in Big Pond beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the Big Pond cemetery at a later date.
