Margaret L. Spencer, 79, of Athens, passed away at home on July 2, 2016 with her family by her side. Margaret was born on June 13, 1937 a daughter of the late Clyde and Edna (Yaples) Simons. Margaret was very active member of the Waverly Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Waverly NY. Enjoyed bowling, collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, loved her Dog Sunbeam, and loved to spend time and play with her grandchildren whom she adored.

Margaret was proceeded in death by her parents Clyde and Edna (Yaples) Simons, Her husband John T. Spencer in 2010. Sisters: Marion Simons, Lilian Simons, and Catherine Simons. Brothers: Kenneth Simons and Charles Simons.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Thomas and Carrie Spencer of Athens. Grandchildren: John Spencer II, Samuel Spencer, and Danielle Spencer. Brothers: James Simons of Waverly and Ed Simons of Waverly. Sister Arlene Sampson of Waverly, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday July 5th at the Waverly Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 135 Chemung Street, Waverly, NY 14892, at 5 PM with Pastor Larry Day officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Waverly Christina and Missionary Alliance Church, 135 Chemung St, Waverly, NY 14892 in loving memory of Margaret.
