Obituary

Mario M. Lombardi, 87, of S. Elmer Ave., Sayre, Pa and formerly of Levittown, Pa passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. He was born on May 3, 1921in Bristol, Pa a son of the late John and Matilda (Martino) Lombardi. Mario was a veteran of the US Army-Air Corp and proudly served his country from 1942-1945. On November 9, 1946 in Trenton, NJ he married Sue DegliUmberti. Mario was a member of the Sons of Italy Roma Lodge, Sayre, Pa; 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed sharing stories with family and friends. In addition he was also an avid collector of cars, trains and baseball hats.

Mario is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Sue Lombardi at home; daughter and son-in-law: Marian and Timothy Sanphy of Sayre; daughter-in-law: Patricia Lombardi of Pa; his sister and brother-in-law: Rose and Dominick Russo of Bristol, Pa; brothers and sister-in-law: John Lombardi of Bristol, Pa; Albert and Marie Lombari of Bensalem, Pa; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Mario was predeceased by his son Marion C. Lombardi; and brothers Jim and Anthony Lombardi.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 10 am the Epiphany Roman Catholic Church, 304 S. Elmer Ave., Sayre, Pa with Father Louis Kaminiski, officiating. Interment will follow in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens.
