Richard G. Fessenden, 96

Fessenden, Richard G. age 96 of Sayre PA died 4:40am August 23rd 2024 at Athens Health and Rehabilitation. Richard was born June 23, 1928 at Towanda PA the son of Richard J. and Bessie M Fessenden, both deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Marlene and by step children: John (Cheryl) Warobick,  Deborah Skinner and Ronald Warobick.  He was predeceased by sisters Betty, Ethel Wheeler and brothers Roland and Leonard.

In his early years he worked at the Lehigh Valley Railroad and Acme Market in Towanda, before enlisting in the Army near end of WWII where his duties included training soldiers as peace keepers in Germany. Richard reenlisted and served in the Korean War stationed in Panama where he trained infantry troops before deployment. Upon his honorable discharge Richard returned to Sayre, PA and worked at Ingersoll Rand as a machinist and set up leader before retiring in 1990.  Richard remained a long-time member of the VFW and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Richard and his wife Marlene enjoyed traveling in their motor home during their retirement before permanently settling in Sayre, PA.

Richard will be laid to rest at the Throopsviller Rural Cemetery , Throopsville NY.
