Richard R. West, 82, of Sayre, died Wednesday October 12, peacefully at home. He was born May 9, 1929 in Sayre, PA. He was the son of the late George M. West and Emily Lamb West.
He graduated from Manlius Pebble Hill School and attended Syracuse University.

Dick was a former member of the Sayre Borough Council, and former member and past President of the of the Sayre Rotary Club. He was also Past district Governor of Rotary International District 74, 1973-74, and a former employee, General Manager/Secretary/ Treasurer at the Pennsylvania Water Co. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks #1148.

Dick made a career change and retired from Yellow Freight Systems as an over-the-road truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Dorotha Palipkonich West, his daughters Pamela West of Seattle, Washington, and Debra West of Portland, Oregon, as well as his three grandaughters, Jessica, Eliza and Lucy Cutler. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Barrick of Levittown, PA and brother David West of Florida. He was predeceased by his son Richard West and sister Eleanor Crawford.

Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral and committal graveside services will be held at the Tioga Point Cemetery on October 15 , 2011 at 2:30 PM with the Reverend Andrea Baldyga officiating.
