62, of Sayre died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, unexpectedly at home. He was born June 6, 1948 a son of the late Robert and Eleanor (Rowe) Hansell.
After high school Robert joined the Navy and served his country from 1968-1971. He married Beverly Jane (Fenton) Hansell on April 17, 1976 who preceded him on February 17, 2006. Robert was also preceded by his Stepfather Paul Hayford and Sister Elizabeth Hansell.
Robert served as commander of the Athens American Legion from 1999-2001. He worked at American LaFrance, Elmira, NY., Valley Instant Homes, Athens, Pa., and most recently Valley Taxi for a number of years. Robert enjoyed spending time on his computer and also hunting and fishing. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the races.
Robert is survived by Sons and daughters-in-law: Shawn Hennesy Cain of Colombia Cross Roads, PA.; Gerald (Michelle) Chandler of Rome, PA., Dale (Felicia) Chandler of Milan, PA.; Brent (Christi) Chandler of Towanda, PA. Daughter: Angel Chandler and (Thomas Sweet) of Big Flats, NY. Sisters: Helen Hansell of Sayre, PA., Paula Hayford of Athens, PA., Peggy (Ricky) Johnson of Athens, PA., Theresa Hayford of Waverly, NY., Vicijo Hayford of Towanda, PA., Tamisue Hayford, of Iowa. Brothers: David (Darlene) Hayford of Athens, PA., and Emmett Hayford of Athens PA. Several very special grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive, which Robert loved dearly. Robert is also survived by a special friend Donna Horton with whom he spent much time with.
