Obituary

Rosalie S. Golonka quietly went to sleep to be with the Lord the morning of March 21, 2011, at her daughter Victoria's home in Barton, New York.

She was one of four children born to John and Antonia Wasielewski of Jersey City, NJ. Rosalie is survived by daughters Antonia (Michael) Chattin of Rome, PA, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Hawken of Lockwood, NY, and Victoria (James) Norton of Barton, NY, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rosalie's siblings, Rev. Stanley Wasielewski of Waverly, NY, Frank Wasielewski of Paramus, NJ, and their families survive her. A younger sister, Victoria Rosky pre-deceased her.

During her life, Rosalie was an accomplished seamstress, the first lady barber in Owego, NY, and in her mid 50s became a licensed practical nurse graduating with honors. She worked at Jersey City Medical Center until her retirement at 65, returning to live at the old family homestead in Barton, NY. Rosalie was a volunteer at the Tioga Nursing Home and Owego Open Door Mission for many years.

At the request of Rosalie, whose assurance was to "be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord", there will be no viewing, calling hours or funeral. Please present any memorials to the missionary of your choice or local ASPCA, in honor of her memory.
