Obituary

Sheila Szymanski, 72, of Dushore, Sullivan Terrace, PA and formerly Dunkirk NY died in Christ on November 11, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. Sheila was born on July 6, 1939 a daughter of the late Leo F. and Helen (Pinkowski) Szymanski. She graduated from Dunkirk High School class of 1957 and managed her family's restaurant The Steak House in Dunkirk. Sheila was the first female Exalted Ruler of the Dunkirk Elks Lodge #922. She was active in many of the Elk's sponsorships and events. She was an avid football and baseball fan. She also loved living on the shores of Lake Erie. She recently relocated to Dushore to be closer to family. Sheila touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity; and maintained her trademark sense of humor right up to the end Sheila is survived by her sister: Bonita Szymanski and brother-in-law John Potosky of Dushore. Aunts: Helen Scaccia of Roseville, CA and Bernice Lanski of Dunkirk, NY. Many cousins and special friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday November 18th at 10:00AM at St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Joe Hornick, Celebrant, in Dushore PA. A period of visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the start of the mass. A Memorial Mass will also be celebrated on Saturday November 19th at 10:00AM at St. Elizabeth Seton in Dunkirk NY, Fr. Dennis Riter Celebrant. A period of visitation will take place from 9:30AM until the start of the mass, with burial next to her parents in Holy Trinity Cemetery to follow.
